Record Once Server Migration

I bought an American VPS from ColoCrossing on Black Friday last year. Because the Los Angeles datacenter is out-of-stocked, I chose the second best datacenter in Dallas but the China network quality seems not good. Look! The packet loss rate to China Mobile is very high. It is always unavailable during peak hours.

ColoCrossing changed their networks in the Los Angeles datacenter recently, Arelion replaced Cogent and seekers are happy to see this change. To be honest it has been effectively improved network quality to China.

So I created a ticket to support department to migration the server to Los Angeles datacenter, because of their service policy, special order VPS plans are not allowed to migrated and the support agent’s answer is

Unfortunately, we cannot allow migrations on Black Friday specials to other locations. You are welcome to purchase additional services in other locations if you wish.

I knew that, but it wasn’t time to give up. Time to give them some pressure! :D There is my reply

We apologize, but we changed server regions because the network service provided by your company is extremely poor. My colleague successfully migrated the same “Black Friday specials” server by submitting a support ticket. Given your network quality, there is almost no reason for us to continue choosing your company as our service provider. Please help us, thank you.

WHO IS MY COLLEAGUE? I don’t know, before I ordered this server, some seekers are successfully migrated special server to LA. So I gave it a try :P

It seems it worked, the supporter agent replied that

Sadly, we are currently out of stock at our Los Angeles datacenter.

The agent softened the policy, which meant “CANNOT ALLOW” became “OK”. After a round of back-and-forth, they recreated the VPS and I lost all my data. Luckily, I have backups, but I need to deploy the services manually :(

The deployed IP is terrible. It has been localized to China, It also means “送中” in Chinese, and some google services are unavailable. Here is nodequality link. By the way, the network quality is also terrible. I asked to change the IP. Unfortunately, I got an new IP with GFW banned, the technical support agent asked me proactively and I agreed to replace a new IP. After 3 hours later, the agent still not reply me, maybe it’s dinner time right now?

Okay, the new IP still has been localized to China. I’m tired, I got a shit IP finally. What’s more, China Mobile cut out all networks to ColoCrossing datacenter lol.
